Information regarding ownership of images
Our Photoshop instructional manual

A Special Moment photography and video offers you many benefits for those who purchase ownership of their images. If you are shopping around for a photographer, ask each photographer if they offer all the benefits that we offer. Here they are:

Every image on CD’s is professionally adjusted, one at a time, for levels (brightness adjustments broken down to highlights, mid-tones and shadows), contrast, image sharpness, color saturation and color temperature (skin-tone adjustments).

Customers contracting us for our 2.5 hour or longer pkgs receive one hour of one-on-one photoshop tutoring if desired. We show you how to crop your professionally adjusted images so you can actually print images successfully, how to adjust your images in case your tastes are slightly different from ours, and then we show you whatever interests you. Many customers request training on B&W and sepiatone work, composite B&W and color work on the same image, creating montages and other layered images. Click here to access our “cut to the chase” Photoshop manual. We also offer one-on-one training beyond the free one hour session to everyone interested. Many think we are crazy doing this, but we find that most people learn rapidly and become addicted to photoshop image work. We do not just hand you your CD’s and wave bye bye!

For those who are competent with the photoshop program, we offer the unique opportunity for them to lay out a storybook album on their own. We then print, mount and bind the album for very significant savings. We know of no one that offers this. We understand that many folks want us to do everything for them, and we definitely do that as well. Full service is here for anyone that wants full service, and for those willing to get hands on, the benefits and savings that we offer far surpass everyone elses. We enjoy showing you how to get satisfaction and value from your wedding images!

Important recommendations on printing

You will need to take our letter of permission with you to most labs so you can print. You are free to print at any lab. For those of you on Oahu, we highly recommend printing at Hawaii Pacific Photo on Beretania street, one block towards Diamond Head from McCully on Beretania street. Our computer monitors are referenced using hardware that is identical to theirs, so your prints will turn out predictably and consistently. Their equipment is constantly tweaked for accuracy. They use Kodak professional paper, and just about everyone else uses Fuji paper, which is much flatter, has lower color quality and very thin emulsion. To get the best price at Hawaii Pacific Photo, ask for their “first-run” prints on their order envelope, in writing. This means they do not adjust anything. Since we have done that for you, that is exactly what you want. Your computer monitor may not be accurately adjusted, so to be safe, it is recommended to take one or two smaller prints to the lab to see how they look relative to how they look on your monitor. Keep in mind that a small print next to a larger print with the exact same adjustments will generally look a little bit darker. You might want to keep that in mind with the various print sizes you might be cropping and adjusting. You might want to adjust slightly your images that we have adjusted because your taste might be a little different from ours. The process does not really require a huge amount of energy or expertise, but you should try to be patient with your first few prints. We are always here to print for you just in case you prefer to not be so hands on for whatever reason. This information offered is presented in the spirit of wanting you to have fun with the process, and to be successful. Please call or email us with your questions or special requests. Full service is what we are all about.
