Hawaii budget weddings? It sounds like a contradiction in terms, at least for people who don't live in Hawaii. In addition to the travel cost, everything is more expensive in Hawaii, isn't it? But the truth is that not only can you experience a wonderfully romantic wedding or vow renewal ceremony in Hawaii on a tight budget, but also, the main things that will make your ceremony most memorable are precisely the things that will make it less expensive.
The two key things that make Hawaii budget weddings possible are the benign Hawaiian weather and the amazing Hawaiian scenery. This means that at any time of year you can have your ceremony in a romantic and quintessentially Hawaiian outdoor setting, such as on a beautiful beach at sunset, without paying a cent for the use of the location! Here at A Special Moment we cover many Hawaii budget weddings of this type, as well as more traditional (and more expensive) church weddings, and we find that often our most striking photos and video scenes come from the budget weddings.
There are, of course, certain pitfalls you'll want to avoid. For one thing, Hawaii budget weddings can involve everybody being thoroughly soaked, cold and miserable if you aren't prepared for our unique climate. Although the weather is generally very nice, we do have seasons here and it is much rainier during the winter, especially on the more tropical northeast side of each island, and in mountain areas, where it also can be very windy and surprisingly cold. It can also get uncomfortably hot in other areas during the summer, and some scenic locations are unfortunately very windy most of the time, and at other locations crowds of people can detract considerably from the natural beauty. And Hawaii budget weddings on certain beaches can be a big disappointment in terms of scenery if you pick the wrong time of year for your ceremony and find that most of the sand is gone from the beach!
Hawaii budget weddings at scenic sites work out best when the bride and groom consult with wedding video and photography companies that specialize in outdoor work, such as here at A Special Moment. We have many years of experience with shooting video and photography at gorgeous locations throughout Hawaii. We know how to avoid the crowds, we know which places have the most consistent good weather, and, at the more variable locations, when the conditions are likely to be at their best. For example, we know that although Keiki Beach is beautiful and uncrowded, it loses most of its sand in the winter, while Waialae Beach has consistently good weather but can have several weddings going on at once.
The money savings for Hawaii budget weddings should also NOT come mainly through using the cheapest vendors. Some "wedding factories" are not worth the money you save; click here to read more about how you can avoid them. The free, gorgeous outdoor location should be your focus. Of course you also do want vendors who are a good value. We think we are the best value for photography and video at outdoor Hawaii budget weddings because we specialize in outdoor work, but if you want to research other photographers and videographers please check out our guide to choosing a videographer, and compare the photos in our locations gallery with those of our competition.
